MGP SOP 002 V1

STANDARD OPERATING PROTOCOL FOR FECAL SAMPLES DNA EXTRACTION - Protocol H

This series of MGP SOPs is the continuation of standards developments made as part of the original International Human Microbiome Standards project (IHMS). This SOP is an upgrade of IHMS_SOP 006. If you wish to consult the original IHMS SOPs, please see http://www.microbiome-standards.org/

This SOP is recommended as a replacement for IHMS_SOP 007 V2 allowing the laboratory to optimize the quantity of DNA recovered even when working on low biomass-containing samples.
This SOP is of first interest for reliable fecal samples DNA extraction from both high and low biomass-containing samples, in order to characterize the fecal microbiota by metagenomic profiling. However, an automated version of this SOP exists, allowing quick and reliable DNA extraction from high biomass-containing samples: see MGP_SOP 001 V1.
